Bridging Africa’s Digital Divide: Insights from AfriLabs Annual Gathering 2024
At the AfriLabs Annual Gathering 2024, held from November 6–8 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, more than 2,000 innovators, policymakers, and entrepreneurs from over 50 countries gathered to shape the future of Africa’s innovation ecosystem. Through Our Reseller business, Cloudmania, together with Microsoft, participated in key discussions that explored how technology can drive inclusive growth and bridge the continent’s digital divide.
Shaping the Future with Policy, Data, and AI
With the theme “Uniting Innovation,” the gathering featured seven thematic tracks—among them, Policy, Data, and AI—designed to tackle the continent’s most pressing digital challenges. A key session, presented by Udistra Dandaraj, ISV Business Group Lead for Africa at Liquid C2, focused on “Bridging the Digital Divide: Enabling AI Access and Building a Sustainable Ecosystem for Talent in Africa.”
Dandaraj’s session underscored the critical need to democratise AI, ensuring access for underrepresented communities and supporting the growth of local talent pipelines. The discussion explored:

The gathering also featured Deputy Minister of Small Business Development Raesetja Jane Sithole, who reinforced South Africa’s dedication to empowering youth, women, and persons with disabilities through digital inclusion and innovation.
